The desk is in Chesterfield.
The work isn't.
ABCode is one developer in Derbyshire, backed by a small team, with clients from the Peak District to London, Cornwall and Merseyside. The towns and cities below get a page of their own, because there is genuinely something local to say about each of them.
Where there's a story to tell
Each one comes with something specific about the place and an honest account of how a project actually runs from there, whether that is twenty minutes up the road or two hundred miles away.

Chesterfield is where the desk is
Chesterfield is a town of long-established firms, trading for decades, known by name locally. They arrive at a website with a problem that is really about proof: everyone here knows who they are, and nobody outside does. That usually means showing the work, the years and the people rather than chasing a fashionable layout.
The other half of my work here is the town's charities and heritage organisations: small budgets, volunteer editors, and a real need for a site somebody non-technical can keep going. I have looked after one of those since 2014. Being in the same town matters most for the awkward jobs, like sitting with someone while they learn to edit their own site.
Your town isn't on the list
That is not a problem, and it never has been. Most projects now run on a video call and a shared screen, which works exactly as well with a client at the other end of the country as it does with one down the road: a live link you can open on your phone, written scope, and answers within a working day. Being nearby is useful when it helps and irrelevant when it does not, so it has never decided whether I take a project on.
The places above are simply where the work has taken me most often, or where I would happily take more of it. Wherever you are in the UK, the job is the same, and the first conversation is free either way.
