WordPress Speed Optimisation
Slow WordPress site? I'll find exactly what's dragging it down and fix it at the root, improving Core Web Vitals, search rankings and conversions, with the numbers to prove it.
1,000+ WordPress websites built, hosted
and maintained since 2010.
How slow is your site?
Run the same Google PageSpeed test I use on every job, right here. Real scores, real Core Web Vitals, and a plain-English list of what needs fixing.
Mobile test, throttled like Google ranks you. Takes about 30 seconds.

What's slowing it down
Root-cause speed work, measured properly
Slow WordPress sites are slow for findable reasons: bloated themes, heavy images, render-blocking assets, chatty queries, cheap hosting. Caching plugins paper over the causes; I diagnose where the time actually goes and fix the culprits in priority order.
I hold myself to the same standard, this site scores 100 on desktop PageSpeed. Every job starts with a benchmark and ends with a before-and-after report on real metrics.
What a speed job covers.
- Full performance audit and prioritised plan
- Image, font and asset optimisation
- Caching and CDN configuration
- Database cleanup and query optimisation
- Core Web Vitals fixes (LCP, CLS, INP)
- Before and after report with real numbers
Real metrics, not vanity scores
I optimise for the Core Web Vitals Google actually ranks on and the load times your visitors actually feel.
Root-cause fixes
Caching plugins only mask a slow site. I fix the underlying culprits: bloated themes, heavy queries and oversized assets.
Measured results
Every job starts and ends with an audit, so you can see exactly what improved and by how much.
Measured before, measured after.
Speed work you can hold to account, in four steps.
-
Benchmark first
PageSpeed, Core Web Vitals and real-device load times recorded before anything is touched. This is the before photo.
-
Diagnose the causes
Server or browser, theme or plugins, images or queries: the audit finds where the time actually goes and ranks the culprits.
-
Fix in priority order
The biggest wins first, carefully and on staging where the risk warrants it, so every hour of work moves a real number.
-
Re-test and report
The same benchmarks run again, side by side with the before. The improvement is a fact you can see, not a feeling.
Faster sites, happier owners
Real reviews from clients whose sites I've tuned and looked after.
Ash and the team have a good reputation of getting job done in term of quality and speed. We have been working with them to update our online business over a year. As a new online business we have many teething issues since beginning. With Ash's help, our business has now taken off to a new level. Highly recommended
Updated my website to run on up-to-date software. Much better, and improved.
Excellent service, professional with a general interest in helping support my business. I cannot recommend them enough.
Outstanding support and workmanship. I've had terrible experiences with other web companies. Ash was extremely professional, responsive and totally reliable. Don't hesitate! Use this company!
Very smooth process. ABCode have been very supportive throughout the process. Response time is very good.
My artist web site was in desperate need of a review, upgrading and problem solving. Ash Brentnall was recommended to me and I found him being the right person for me to do this job. I am very happy with the collaboration and will shortly move web hosting over to Ash.
At the very early stages of working with Ash as part of a 12 month plan, very pleased with the progress so far.
Ash is very thorough with his explanations and genuinely wants to help pave the way to success for his clients. I would recommend him to anyone thinking about building a website.
Great company to work with, always on call to give a helping hand and resolve any issues that may arise
Speed Optimisation questions, answered.
What site owners ask before a performance overhaul.
How much faster will my site get?
It depends where it starts, but most sites I optimise go from failing Core Web Vitals to passing, with load times cut by half or more. The audit tells us the realistic target before any work starts.
Will optimisation break my site?
No. Changes are made carefully and tested on a staging copy first where the risk warrants it, with backups taken before anything is touched.
Is my hosting the problem?
Sometimes, but less often than hosts get blamed. The audit shows whether time is lost on the server or in the browser. If hosting genuinely is the bottleneck, I'll recommend a better fit and handle the migration.
Do you optimise WooCommerce and Elementor sites?
Yes, both are specialities. WooCommerce has its own performance quirks and Elementor is only as fast as it is set up to be. I build with both daily, so I know where they hide their weight.
Why does speed matter for SEO and sales?
Core Web Vitals are a Google ranking signal, and conversion drops with every extra second of load time. Speed work pays for itself twice: rankings, and the visitors who stay.
What is the difference between this and a caching plugin?
Caching serves the same slow pages faster on repeat views. I make the pages themselves fast, then caching sits on top as the final layer instead of hiding the problem.
How is the improvement measured?
PageSpeed Insights and Core Web Vitals, benchmarked before and re-tested after. Both reports side by side: the improvement is a fact, not a feeling.
